Valentine’s Day can be tough, so it’s a good thing we have the people over at KUSF.org to make it better. Here are the breakup song picks from some of the amazing people behind USF’s student run radio station. Cry with us.

Evan Mclean
“Without You” by Spooky Black
Some songs just really pull at the heart strings, you know?

Maggie Silverman
“Emotion” by Samantha Sang
I used to have a radio show with my ex-boyfriend in high school and we had to continue doing it the whole year regardless of our differences and I thought it was super funny to play this song really loud in the studio and sing along to it to possibly make him feel more uncomfortable than he already was.

Nichole Rosanova (DJ Supernova)
“Someone Great” by LCD Soundsystem
The fact that James Murphy supposedly can’t even taste his coffee because he’s so torn up about his lover should be enough to make anyone feel better about their failed relationship.

Ann Averill (DJ Annimal)
“Rush” by Nail Harvest
This song is from the band’s album “Hold Open My Head.” It will for sure make you shed a tear.

Paul Duchene
“IDFWU” by Big Sean
Go to the club. Drink too much Hennessy. Scream this at the top of your lungs…. and proceed to drunk text your ex.

Kimberley Mongdragon (DJ Kimbo Slice)
“Si Te Vas” by Shakira
Si Te Vas is the perfect break song. Shakira undeniably goes in on this one. Even if you don’t speak spanish, you can surely feel Shakira’s anger with her ex-boo, calling her ex’s new girlfriend a “bruja… que no se lava bien los dientes”, which translates to “ a witch that doesn’t brush her teeth right”. Shakira definitely knows how to properly diss somebody. So, if you’ve recently had to end things sourly with a boyfriend or girlfriend, I guarantee Shakira will get you feeling better in no time!

Ella Jayes (DJayes)
“Crown Of Love” by Arcade Fire
I remember my mom started listening to Arcade Fire and she said “Oh my god! Crown of Love is so sad… Is that your and ‘insert-ex-boyfriend’s name”s breakup song?” because we were both huge AF fans. I listened to it in my 2009 Black Jetta (my ex-bf and I also had the same car) and cried. It was sad. Haha

Thomas Flippin (DJ Flip)
“Go Cry On Somebody Else’s Shoulder” by Frank Zappa
Zappa makes everything better…and so does bacon.

Luna Farina
“What Fear Was” Risa Rubin
This song is refreshingly different. It is beautiful, experimental melodies to my ears. In an age where I feel like experimental art-pop music can fall flat on its face, her music does not. Each song solely relies on a harp or a keyboard and her hauntingly beautiful voice. This song especially, is one I currently can’t stop listening too.

Gabriel Milner
“So Long, Marianne” by Leonard Cohen
It’s nostalgic (not bitter), collaborative (not exclusive), kind and resigned–which is maybe the best you can ask for sometimes.

David Garcia
“Walk of Shame” by Deap Valley
Because if you’re going to settle for a one-night stand, you might as well own it.

Also

“Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright” by Bob Dylan
Because if you’re going to play the sympathy card, again, you might as well own it.

Alec Kaplan (DJ Kaplan Crunch)
“It Wasn’t Me” by Shaggy
For that time you broke up…and it was definitely your fault.
